 | | | NEW! MFA Educators Online Educators Online is a new learning tool from the MFA that allows you to create custom art galleries and share them with your students online or in the classroom. With this exciting resource, you'll help students develop critical thinking skills and express themselves in new ways.
MFA Educators Online is made possible through the generous support of the William Randolph Hearst Foundation. |

School Groups At the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, students and teachers are invited to explore works of art spanning six continents and thousands of years of history. We offer innovative programs for students and teachers that encourage exploration of the MFA’s world-renowned collections and groundbreaking exhibitions. For more information about bringing your school group to the MFA, see School Group Visits.
For a list of guided tours that are available during the 2008-09 school year with Massachusetts State Curriculum Frameworks Connections see Group Tour Descriptions.
Due to construction, some galleries are closed and individual works may be unavailable. A few school group visit offerings have been revised accordingly.
Rothwell School Bus Fund for Fall Visits The Bernard J. Rothwell School Bus Fund was established in 2006 to provide schools in need with bus transportation subsidies of $250 to bring classes to the MFA for gallery instructor-guided tours from October through December. This fund was made possible by a grant from the Paul Taylor and Adeline Gertrude Magrane Rothwell Philanthropic Fund at the recommendation of a current gallery instructor. Please submit a Bus Fund Application Form and School Group Visit Request Form simultaneously. Grants are limited and will be distributed with priority consideration given to School Groups with demonstrated financial need and first-time Museum visitors.
Early Admission for School Groups Explore the Museum before it opens to the public. Take advantage of a 9:30 am entry to our Art of Ancient Egypt, Nubia, and the Near East collections, as well as guided tours of Gund special exhibitions. To learn more or to request a tour, see School Group Visits.
Recently received funding from a local foundation enables the MFA to open early for school groups at no extra cost.
